We've been sharing space with yogis since 2012 in our eclectic 1939 building turned yoga studio. With a return of it's popularity, the Park Circle neighborhood is our home. We welcome all types of students from many backgrounds in yoga, all in a community-felt yoga space in a vibrant and growing downtown business district of Old North Charleston.
Our studio is named after our founder, Masie Barefoot-Judson. You will see her on the schedule often. Masie's approach to yoga is alignment-based for each individual student. Please expect hands-on adjustments in our classrooms as a way to better assist your yoga practice.
What we offer is small class sizes with skilled yoga teachers who love to work with beginner yoga students. Our passion is found on the yoga mat in our classrooms with our students. Ready to join? We can't wait to practice yoga with you!
What makes Barefoot Yoga different from other yoga studios?
Smaller class sizes - We max out our cozy front room at 16 students!
Our Teachers enjoy assisting our students on the path of their yoga practice. Because every body is different, our Teachers offer modifications tailored to each student's practice level. Please expect verbal and hands-on adjustments as a way to better assist your yoga practice. Smaller class sizes helps us with this level of assistance and offers the small community-feeling that Park Circle is well known for locally.
Want to get to know your yoga teacher?
Great! We do too! Smaller class sizes gives our teachers a chance to get to know their students. Talking to your yoga teacher is important. We need to know your limitations including injuries, so, chat us up - before or after class. If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, please advise your teacher before class begins.
Why a Smaller Class Size...
Our teachers really want you to find correct alignment or "the fullest expression of the pose - for your body." Our smaller class size allows our Teachers to assist for a more one-on-one experience. A lot of students tell us they get more help in our smaller classroom setting then they do in large yoga studios.
What type of yoga do we offer?
All of our Teachers are certified in different backgrounds of Hatha or Karma Yoga. Hatha is the one of the original versions of yoga that came from India and offers a style of yoga that is right for all body types and skill levels. Please check our monthly schedule for the classes we offer and click on the class name for a description.
We believe yoga is not a trend, but a way of life.
You can find peace and clarity of body and mind with time and practice!
